My Mission

IN LIFE

Ever wonder what’s your purpose in life?  I mean, what’s it all about, Alfie?  Is it just for the moment we live?  I decided some time ago that all I really want to do is BE.  Like a tree, sort of (oh yes, there are times when I envy my tree friends; they simply stand there, grow, give shade, provide housing for creatures, offer strong branches for tire swings, trunks for carving initials inside hearts and yes, surrender themselves to us humans for use in building our homes and furniture and making our paper . . . I reference Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree.  We are, after all human beings, not human doings.

Still, as humans (or more correctly, as spiritual beings having a human experience), our lot in life is to do stuff.  I accept this, but I want whatever I do to reflect what I be (not great english but you get my drift).  I made a list of what I want to be:

  happy   •   strong   •   grateful   •   peaceful   •   still   •   grounded

spiritual   •   loving   •   understanding   •   forgiving   •   accepting

If I am being the above, then whatever I’m doing will be of value.

IN BLOGGING

What I want to do in this blog is generate discussion about the being part of life.  We know that living life can get complicated, we know it’s a journey, and in the end we’re all seeking the same thing: living a happy life.  Here, in this blog, I share my journey, the wisdom gleaned from my journey, I ask my questions, and you respond with your experiences (journey),  your wisdom, your questions.

I believe this sharing promotes greater wisdom, deeper meanings, and a great sense of connectedness and commonality.  Blogging communication defies the physical distance between us.  Here we are, leaping across state lines, time zones, country borders, and vast oceans, sharing our thoughts, giving and receiving support, encouragement, new ideas, new questions!  How very, very awesome is this!

I love the concept of “just being”…I recently read something that feels like a slight twist to what you said above…that we are human “beings” and not human “becomings”…which goes to the concept that we are already perfect and have everything we need but often fail to notice…that we don’t need to focus on self-improvement but maybe self-discovery (reconnecting with that spiritual side that elected to have the physical experience).

Very cool purpose, I have the sense I’m right behind you :)

Sharni, I read your Being post — all I can say (aside from Monte being a very, very beautiful little person) is, Monte is one lucky dude to have a mom like you!

You are an inspriation to me for this is what I’ve wanted to do. I feel now I can.
I’ve lived on the eastcoast and truly love the sound and feel of the ocean. I am on SSDI because of a breakdown 12years ago. I feel fine now but I know something is missing in my life. My husband of
30 years doesn’t seem to see this as my way. We usually do nothing for the last 12yrs or so. Not even go fishing, which I love. I’m not sure if he’ll accept this but since our home is going into foreclosure, I just want give it all up and go go go! It may be alone but God has a way of caring for His children.
My vehicle is perfect for a travel trailer. SUV Durango. My sons are on their own and the more I set here in this house the more depressed I become. I love people of all walks of life. Here I don’t even get the neighbors to say Hi back.
I’m sorry this is so long, as my tears are rolling down my face.
Thank You so much for God brought me here today for a reason. A wonderful, joyful reason of HIS love for me.
Please write me back at email above!

Hi, Jennifer — I’m glad I’ve given you some stuff to think about. This lifestyle isn’t for everyone, but for me it’s the answer to a prayer.

I wish you all the best in finding YOUR road!
