Austin TX, Part Two

CHECK THIS OUT !!

I had six glorious hours of a second visit when my blogging buddy Jannie and and her princess Kelly came to our campground site for a visit on Saturday.  Sunshine abounded, hot dogs abounded, and the chatting and laughter abounded.

Kelly fell in love with the pups, and vice versa.  She fell in love with Sara’s rear bedroom and tv.  She fell in love with Sara’s laptop where she could play her online game while Jannie and I talked about everything under the sun.

Kelly got caught singing a song of her own making as she played on the computer — she is so amazing!  Jannie got caught singing “I Need A Man” — she is so amazing!

We talked about: blogging. Canada.  Home Makeovers.  Talented Jim.  Sunshine Kelly.  Jannie’s songwriting.  Other things that have eluded my short-term memory ( :) ).

Before we knew it, the sun dipped low in the sky and the air cooled suddenly, and Jim called Jannie, and Jannie said “I guess we gotta go” and I said

HOLY COW!  PICTURES, WE NEED PICTURES!  And I bemoaned the fact that the whole afternoon had gone by without picture taking . . .  but we got a few,  to capture forever a precious memory of being with people we love.

Kelly, you have stolen yet another heart!  You go, Girl!

Ah, Reunion!  Here’s me with Sara (the instigator of this six-month trip) and son Michael (who recently relocated to Austin).  Yes, it was a sunny day, and then the rain set in, and it’s starting to feel like home.  Grey skies, drizzle, humidity (yay, my hair’s getting it’s curl back!), trees, grass.  We’ve left desert lands and mountains behind us. When I embarked on this six-month road trip to explore the Southwest with my daughter, I thought I’d be skirting around winter weather, going where Snowbirds go, enjoying endless sunshine and balmy days.  Such a dream, eh? Read More…

Yesterday I realized that for the past few days I’ve felt a bit muddled.  Mildly chaotic.  Partial thoughts appearing and vanishing quickly — ’I've got to . . . I need to . . . “  Intentions wander in and out of my mind without moving me to do anything.

I’ve been feeling somewhat irresponsive to the fleeting nudges to take care of things on my To-Do List.  I’ve been vaguely curious about what’s happening. Read More…

Oops, it’s been over a month since I last wrote about the road trip I’m on with my daughter Sara.  OK, here’s the poop on where we’ve been and what we’ve been doing since December 7th.  Wow, that was last year :) Read More…

The Monday after Thanksgiving we left the desert behind us and found ourselves staring in wonder at the Pacific Ocean, on a perfect day filled with sunshine.  The New Mexico skies were wonderful; the Arizona sunsets amazing; the desert growth fascinating.  And this?  This is — well, pacific!

When we find ourselves in a surprisingly beautiful place, it behooves us to linger a bit, whenever possible.  This little strip of road right on the California coast has places for RVers to “boondock”.  For those of you not  RVers, boondocking (also called dry camping) is parking in a place with no water or electricity or sewer access: parking and using the onboard facilities only, and because RVs are self-contained (they have water and electricity and sewer built-in), they can park anywhere and be functional.
